Job summary

US Foods is seeking a Fleet Reefer/Refrigeration Technician to maintain and repair diesel equipment across tractors, trailers, bobtails, and lift gates. The role includes documentation with fleet software and training participation.

You will perform preventative maintenance in DOT compliance, mentor staff, and travel for training as needed. The position offers comprehensive benefits starting day one and a pay range starting at $36 hourly, with opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

  • Must have 3 years of verifiable hands-on experience as a Fleet Reefer/Refrigeration technician.
  • TK/Carrier Refrigeration Certifications required.
  • Diagnostic and troubleshooting competency for reefer equipment repairs.
  • Able to read and understand technical/service manuals.
  • Must furnish own personal hand tools.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace and complete repairs on diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, bobtails, lift gates).
  • Perform preventative maintenance within DOT standards.
  • Receive road calls and coordinate third-party vendors.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment per safety guidelines.
  • Document repairs and parts used in fleet software.
  • Mentor other maintenance shop personnel.
  • Willingness to pursue increased responsibilities and certifications.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

BASIC PURPOSE : To provide a safe and reliable fleet by performing preventative maintenance and proper repairs on all fleet equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace and complete all required repairs on diesel equipment (i.e., tractors, trailers, bobtails, lift gates, etc.).
  • Perform preventative maintenance within DOT standards.
  • Receive road calls, assign third party vendor, and work with business partners on plan of action.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with workplace safety rules/regulations and government guidelines.
  • Utilize fleet maintenance software system tablet to fully document equipment repair and parts used.
  • Backup to other maintenance shop personnel.
  • Willingness and capacity to assume increased responsibility and certificates.
  • Mentor other maintenance shop personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must have 3 years of verifiable hands-on experience as a Fleet Reefer/Refrigeration technician. TK/Carrier Refrigeration Certifications.
  • Must be willing to travel and attend training provided by US Foods.
  • Diagnostic and troubleshooting competency relating to reefer equipment repairs.
  • Successfully demonstrated independent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Prior experience in administering appropriate PM program.
  • Must furnish own personal hand tools.
  • Able to read and write legibly (e.g., to attend trainings, hold conversations, receive safety and job-related coaching, and enter information on reports if needed); basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, divide).
  • Ability to read and understand technical and online service manuals.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience using fleet maintenance software PREFERRED
  • Welding ability PREFERRED
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Onsite : The associate in this role is expected to perform assigned responsibilities inside a US Foods maintenance facility.
  • Must be willing to work in extreme temperatures and weather conditions.

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law (for example: state minimum wage thresholds). The expected base rate for this role is between $36 and $40.

This role may also receive overtime compensation where applicable.
