Job summary

Challenge Manufacturing in Kansas City, MO, seeks an experienced press operator to setup and change dies on progressive, secondary and transfer presses (200 to 2500 ton) per JES and setup sheets. You will follow the Quality Policy, log non-conformities, participate in preventive actions, and maintain workspace safety.

This shift runs 5:00 PM–5:00 AM Friday through Sunday at our Kansas City plant. Must read and follow work instructions, maintain high standards, and support continuous improvement

Qualifications

  • Reads and understands JES and die setup sheets.
  • Operates 200–2500 ton presses according to quality standards.
  • Identifies and logs non-conformities; participates in corrective actions.
  • Follows safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up and changes dies on specified presses.
  • Loads dies/tools with blanks and operates guarding devices.
  • Maintains housekeeping and safe work area.
  • Observes quality policy and documents processes and results.

Conducts corrective actions and perform problem solving analysis and reporting as requiredConducts housekeeping for personal work area and shared facility spaceObserves and complies with all safety, environmental, regulatory, and statutory requirements associated with this job descriptionParticipates in needs analysis and attends and performs the requirements of scheduled training and educational programs identified for this positionParticipates, as requested, in independent objective auditing activities and supports company continuous improvement activitiesStops work on processes as appropriate and contains suspect or defective material or services to avoid further processing.Positions, and safely clamps Dies/tools, feed guides, and Guarding.Threads metal strip from coils through pinch rollers, and/or loads Dies/tools with metal blanksInstalls part ejection, and air blasts/external oilers.Installs any and all die protection devicesWhen and Where:This will be a Z Shift / 5:00PM-5:00AM F-SUN position located at our Plant in Kansas City, MOWhat You Need to Have:High school diploma or general education degree (GED)Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English at a level sufficient to safely and effectively perform job duties, including following work instructions, safety procedures, and company communications.One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experienceMetal Stamping experience preferredDie setting in stamping preferredLock out tag out experience preferredPress operating experience preferredHas high standards of performance for self.Takes responsibility for actions, results, and mistakes.
