Job summary

SMS Staffing is seeking a Die Setter – Automatics in Waukegan, IL to join a fast-paced metal stamping environment. You will coordinate die setup operations, ensure production efficiency, and maintain safety standards across punch press machines.

The role requires leading automatic die setters and operators, setting up dies, reading blueprints, inspecting parts, and maintaining equipment according to spec. Training teammates on safe operation and documentation are also key duties.

Qualifications

• Experience in metal stamping and automatic punch press operations.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and use measuring tools.
• Strong understanding of safety procedures and machine operations.
• Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs safely.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and instruct automatic die setters and machine operators based on production priorities.
• Set up and change dies on automatic punch press machines.

• Monitor press operations, including feeders, cradles, and dies for proper function.
