Abbott Tool and Die is a premier tooling facility specializing in the design, build, and production running of metal stamping dies. Operating as two integrated companies, Abbott Tool and Die (ATD) focuses on tool builds, while North Central Stamping (NCS) delivers high-capacity metal stamping services. The company serves a diverse customer base, including automotive, recreational ATV, building supply, and refrigeration industries. ATD offers complete tool and die services with a full-service tool room, wire EDM, and CNC departments, producing durable tools. NCS provides stamping up to 700 tons, along with resistance and robotic welding, CNC machining, die maintenance, and a robust network of outside vendors for services such as E-coating, deburring, powder coating, and heat treating.

Role Description

The Die Setter is responsible for setting up, adjusting, and maintaining stamping dies and related equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and accurate production. In this full-time, on-site role located in Greater St. Louis, the Die Setter installs dies in presses, aligns and secures tooling, and performs trial runs to verify part quality and dimensional accuracy. Day-to-day tasks include reading and interpreting blueprints, selecting and installing appropriate tooling, monitoring press operations, and troubleshooting issues such as misfeeds, part defects, or equipment malfunctions. The Die Setter may perform some die maintenance, collaborates with toolmakers and production team members to optimize setups, and adheres to safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.

Pay range: $25 -27 based on experience

Qualifications

• Experience in die setting and metal stamping operations, including installing, aligning, and securing progressive dies in mechanical or hydraulic presses.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions, and apply basic math and measurement skills (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
• Knowledge of press operation, tooling components, and production troubleshooting, including identifying and correcting part quality and feed issues.
• Commitment to safety and quality, with understanding of lockout/tagout procedures, PPE use, and standard manufacturing quality checks.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to follow established procedures, and capacity to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Previous experience in a progressive stamping or tool and die facility preferred
