Job summary

NYX Inc. is seeking a Die Setter in the Operations department at the Livonia Molding and Assembly site. You will safely set up molding machines, adjust controls, and maintain quality in production aligned with F.P.A. standards and TS16949/EMS requirements.

You will follow documented procedures, complete timely paperwork, and ensure safe, efficient machine start-ups and shut-downs to meet customer deadlines. A high school diploma and relevant experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One to three years’ experience as a Material Handler preferred.
  • Valid State Driver\'s License and passing grade on Power Industrial Truck Test, truck crane qualification, and passing grade on overhead crane operator’s test.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up molding machines by positioning molds, aligning die matrix, connecting hoses, etc. for continuous production as per F.P.A. form.
  • Adjusts machine control settings to regulate forming pressure, curing time, etc. to ensure consistent quality.
  • Examines tooling and adjusts machine settings according to verification sheets and loaded programming from IMM, to reduce start-up defects.
  • Starts machines and verifies correct operation to ensure timely tooling function and on-time delivery.
  • Shuts down machines using proper lock-out procedures and prepares for new orders with minimal downtime.
  • Completes required documentation accurately to maintain compliant production start-up processes.
  • Ensures safety and housekeeping standards per F.P.A. form and ISO TS16949/EMS systems.
  • After Section A is closed on the F.P.A. form, follows TS16949 and ISO14001-EMS to shift supervisor.

Description

Safely sets up and adjusts molding machines in an accurate and timely manner so that parts meet customer requirements as per T.S.16949, and ISO14001-E.M.S. systems, with direction from supervisor.


Key Responsibilities

All functions will be completed as per the plant’s TS 16949 and ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) systems.

  • Sets up molding machines by positioning molds, aligning die matrix, connecting hoses, etc. for continuous production as per F.P.A.
  • Adjusts machine control settings to regulate forming pressure, curing time, etc. so that quality parts are consistent as per F.P.A. form.
  • Examines tooling and adjusts machine settings according to the verification sheet, and/or loaded programming from IMM, so that time can be saved, and lower defects achieved on start-up procedures.
  • Start machine and verify correct operation to allow accurate and timely function of tooling, so that delivery dates are met. Follow F.P.A. form to help perform this function.
  • Shut down machine by performing proper lock-out procedures, removing dies, purging material, etc. so that new orders are safely started with minimal down time.
  • Completes required documentation in an accurate and timely manner so that production start-up processes are consistent as per F.P.A. form.
  • Ensure safety and housekeeping standards are met through the completion of the F.P.A. form.
  • When all of the Section A has been completed, and closed from the Die-set on the F.P.A. form, then following T.S.16949 system, and ISO14001-E.M.S. system should be follow through to the Shift Supervisor.
  • Complete additional work assigned to them, by their Supervisor, and or Management Team.

Physical Demands:

  • Standing – required on concrete floor
  • Sitting – required only when operating the fork lift
  • Walking – sometimes required between machines and tool storage area
  • Lifting – sometimes up to 75 lbs from floor to shoulder
  • Pushing/pulling – frequently required (shoulder and above) when moving molds; sometimes necessary (waist level) when pushing a die cart

Skills Knowledge and Expertise
