Description

1st Shift

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direct supervision of the Press Area Manager, responsible for the complete operation of a transfer press, including changeovers and identifying improvements.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintains the responsibilities and essential functions of a Die Set Technician.
  • Has complete knowledge of die setting, press parameters, and the ability to start the press from a complete shutdown condition.
  • Initiates press production runs to a continuous mode.
  • Performs quality inspection checks, First Off/Last Off inspections, and all "Inspection Strategy" procedures.
  • Transports dies, performs die setups, and changes dies in transfer press according to the production schedule.
  • Performs all rail setups, ensuring they are hooked up correctly and functioning properly.
  • Installs, positions, and aligns dies on the bolster.
  • Trains part packers on proper job performance.
  • Maximizes each job/die when it is in the press.
  • Initiates, recommends, or provides solutions through documented team discussions. Uses improvement events to optimize transfer press utilization.
  • Documents all die and/or press issues in detail and communicates them to the Press Improvement Teams.
  • Works closely with the Press Improvement Team, Tool & Die, and Maintenance to optimize press utilization, changeover time, and repairs.
  • Makes gripper adjustments, end stop adjustments, and adjusts coil feed parameters to minimize downtime.
  • Performs small maintenance repairs as needed.
  • Strictly adheres to all safety regulations per company policy.
  • Establishes and maintains excellent housekeeping habits.
  • Performs other essential functions as assigned.

PERFORMANCE MEASURES:

  • The primary performance measure is achieving corporate goals for individual press throughput and plant OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).
  • The secondary measure is maintaining a positive attitude and being a team-oriented employee.
