Job summary

Jefferson Southern Corp in Rockmart, GA is seeking a Die Maintenance Technician to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on stamping dies, ensuring quality and production efficiency. You will troubleshoot die-related issues, set up dies, weld, machine, read drawings, and support safety and continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Technical training in Tool & Die or Industrial Maintenance preferred.
• Experience with TIG, MIG, and arc welding and metal fabrication preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on stamping dies to ensure proper operation, product quality, and production efficiency.
• Identify and troubleshoot die-related issues, including in-press repairs, and implement countermeasures to reduce downtime.
• Set up and operate die spotting presses and other equipment for die adjustments, modifications, and repairs.
• Utilize welding and machining to repair and maintain stamping dies and related components.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical instructions to complete maintenance activities accurately.
• Conduct scheduled maintenance inspections and identify issues to prevent future failures.

Description

1. Die Maintenance & Repair: Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on stamping dies to ensure proper operation, product quality, and production efficiency.

2. Troubleshooting & Problem Solving: Identify and troubleshoot die-related issues, including in-press repairs, and implement effective countermeasures to reduce downtime and prevent recurring problems.

3. Die Setup & Modification: Set up and operate die spotting presses and other equipment to perform die adjustments, modifications, and repairs.

4. Welding & Machining: Utilize TIG, MIG, and arc welding, grinding, conventional machine tools, and fabrication equipment to repair and maintain stamping dies and related components.

5. Technical Drawings & Work Instructions: Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical instructions to complete maintenance and repair activities accurately.

6. Preventive Maintenance: Conduct scheduled die inspections and maintenance activities, identifying potential issues beyond the initial repair request to prevent future failures.

7. Production Support: Respond promptly to die-related production issues, support die trials as needed, and coordinate with Stamping, Engineering, and other departments to minimize production interruptions.

8. Documentation & Reporting: Accurately document maintenance activities, repairs, identified issues, and corrective actions in JSC's designated systems, including Plex, as required.

9. Safety Compliance: Follow all JSC safety policies, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), proper PPE usage, and safe lifting practices. Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, and equipment concerns.

10. 5S & Equipment Care: Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment following JSC's 5S standards. Properly maintain tools, equipment, and assigned work areas.

11. Communication & Teamwork: Effectively communicate maintenance status, unresolved issues, and shift handover information to management and other associates.

12. Training & Development: Support on-the-job training (OJT), share technical knowledge, and assist in developing the skills of new and existing Die Maintenance associates.

13. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve die reliability, maintenance efficiency, safety, and cost reduction through continuous improvement activities.

14. Inventory & Equipment Needs: Report damaged equipment, required repairs, and low inventory of maintenance supplies or replacement components to supervision.

15. Company Policies & Standards: Comply with JSC's Associate Handbook, applicable quality and environmental management system requirements, and established departmental procedures.

16. Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned by management to support departmental and company objectives.

Education & Experience

High school diploma or GED preferred.

Technical training or certification in Tool & Die, Industrial Maintenance, Machining, or a related field preferred.

Experience with TIG, MIG, and arc welding, grinding, machining, and metal fabrication preferred.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.

Basic knowledge of mechanical systems, stamping processes, and die components.

Familiarity with preventive maintenance procedures and industrial safety requirements.

Experience with ERP or maintenance management systems, such as Plex, preferred.

Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

Ability to identify die defects, determine root causes, and perform effective repairs.

Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and conventional machine tools safely.

Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and measurement conversions.

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Strong attention to detail, quality, and workplace safety.

Ability to prioritize maintenance activities based on production needs.

Willingness to learn new technologies, procedures, and repair methods.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive movements throughout the work shift.

Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull tools, materials, and components within established safety guidelines, with mechanical assistance when required.

Ability to work around heavy machinery, stamping presses, welding equipment, and other industrial equipment.

Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, safety footwear, gloves, and other equipment as required.

Ability to work assigned shifts, overtime, and weekends based on operational needs.

Must follow all applicable safety and environmental procedures.
