Shift/Hours: Mon -Fri, 2pm-10pm

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Communication with other departments in the layout and production of incoming jobs is essential. When receiving a job to be die cut, instructions to be followed are detailed on the Factory Ticket submitted to the die cutting dept. Inspection of proper sheet alignment is made by the pressman. The die for this particular job is placed into the die cutting press and sheets are run through the machine to insure that creases and cut marks are in the proper place for the manufacture of the finished product. If any discrepancies arise in the manufacture of the die, the pressman will get in contact with the supervisor. When the job is in production, a sheet from each load must be inspected by the pressman to ensure all creases and cuts are still in proper perspective for the finished product. Other functions include the communication between the print dept. and the die cutting dept. When the print department is ready to produce a printed job, final approval must be given by the die cutting dept. to ensure the layout of the print will conform to the die that has been produced by the die making dept. At the end of the production job on the die cutter, the lead pressman must have all the proper paperwork completed before going on to the next job. Helps to mentor the operation of the person running the feeder end of the die cutter and designates the different duties assigned to the feeder. The pressman must have good communication with the employees in pre‑make‑ready so if any problems do arise, the situation can be resolved before the die is locked in position on the press. A working relationship between supervision, pressmen, and pre‑make‑ready is a necessity to maintain a smooth workflow.
