Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Die Cutter Operator in Marion, NC. The role entails locking up tooling for die cutting, assisting on cutter make readies and runs, and relieving others for breaks. Candidates will advance to a cutter operator position as openings arise and qualification allows.

Responsibilities include maintaining WIP, keeping the area clean, assisting with line clearance and documentation, and following all safety and quality procedures within 5S and SQF guidelines.

Job description

The Die Cutter Operator is responsible for locking up tooling used in Die Cutting Operation. Will be required to assist on cutter make readies/runs along with relieving cutter operators for breaks and/or vacations. Assist with jogging board, operating baler, working TRA and other duties assigned. Will be required to advance to a cutter operator position when one becomes available that they are qualified for.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Maintain WIP and tolling based on production schedule.


• Maintain cleanliness of the department.


• Assist TRA as needed


• Assist on M/Rs and startups

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be able to read and understand work schedule


• Will train on line clearance, scanner set-up, and documentation.


• Full understanding of Cutting Assistant Grade 1 role.


• Basic PC skills


• Basic mechanical skills.


• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.


• Ability to work with little supervision.


• Ability to work in a team environment.


• Good mathematical ability, including good understanding of measurements.


• Must comply with all plant and corporate policies.


• This position will keep department in specs within all 5S and SQF guidelines, and immediately report any food safety concerns to management.
