Job summary

STERIS is seeking a skilled Die and Tool Maker with hands-on toolmaking experience to support production, R&D, and NPD. You will troubleshoot tooling, oversee fixture fabrication, and work with engineering on mold builds and fixture improvements.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 5+ years hands-on Toolmaker experience and tool troubleshooting expertise.
  • CAD design experience and familiarity with 3D CAD tools.
  • Experience with GD&T and engineering calculations.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software.
  • Experience with CNC and EDM machining and metalworking practices.
  • Apprenticeship in tool making or related manufacturing discipline is a plus.
  • Strong leadership and teamwork abilities; effective cross-functional communication.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Molding, R&D, Automation, and Assembly to ensure on-time project delivery.
  • Provide tooling support for new instruments, fixtures, and hand tools.
  • Investigate and resolve production tooling issues to minimize downtime.
  • Build/prototype fixtures and tooling; read and interpret blueprints and tolerances.
  • Set up equipment according to part requirements and machine capabilities.
  • Assist with mold builds and fixture improvements; support tooling design.

Job Title: Die and Tool MakerAt STERIS, we help our Customers create a healthier and safer world by providing innovative healthcare and life science product and service solutions around the globe.Position SummaryAs a Tool Maker you will be responsible for providing provides strategic technical tooling support to Operations projects (Production) as well as R&D and New Product Development (NPD). This position must have hands-on toolmaking experience to identify and troubleshoot technical tool issues in production, oversee fixture and instrument component fabrication, and service and maintain production tooling and fixtures from engineering prints and 3-D CAD. Must have experience with instrument/fixture design. Must have in-depth knowledge of milling, turning, machining, grinding, wire EDM, sinker EDM, and CNC systems and their capabilities. This position will provide input, guidance, and technical support on new Mold builds, fixtures, modifications, and improvements based on experience and common practice. This position requires a hands-on person who can perform all tooling manufacturing functions during the fabrication, maintenance, or repair of any instrument, fixture, or tool, if necessary.
