Job summary

Attalon in California is seeking a detail-oriented Diamond Turning Machine Operator Technician to join our advanced manufacturing team. You will set up, program, and operate single-point diamond turning equipment to produce sub-micron optical components and precision assemblies for aerospace and defense.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of CNC machining experience, a background in optics, and the ability to read blueprints and GD&T.

Qualifications

• 2+ years CNC machining experience; diamond turning or precision optics preferred.
• Ability to read engineering blueprints, GD&T symbols, and complex drawings.
• Familiarity with micro-inch tolerances and precise part handling.
• ISO 9001 quality standards knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate multi-axis ultra-precision diamond turning lathes to fabricate optical surfaces.
• Read, interpret, and edit CNC programs on machine controllers.
• Perform post-process inspections using interferometers, profilometers, microscopes.
• Monitor tool wear, adjust feeds/speeds, and align optics for quality.
• Conduct routine preventative maintenance on fluid/air systems and maintain safety standards.
