Job summary

SpaceX in Redmond, WA is seeking a Diamond Turning Machinist for the Starlink program to manufacture sub-micron tolerance diamond turned parts at production volumes using world-class equipment. You will learn and expand a diamond turning skillset while contributing to hardware that pushes the boundaries of precision.

Responsibilities include following work instructions, maintaining machine uptime, and performing metrology with CMMs, optical microscopes, and Zygo interferometers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate
• 6+ months experience operating CNC machines
• Experience running diamond turning lathes
• Experience with sub-micron tolerance parts and how to handle/inspect them
• CNC Lathe setup experience
• Understanding of optics manufacturing and associated metrology
• Ability to provide feedback and suggest process improvements to production and engineering

Responsibilities

• Maintain defined work instructions, process controls, and a safe work environment
• Maximize machine/work centre uptime by identifying and reporting alarms and deviations
• Use metrology equipment including CMMs, optical microscopes, and Zygo interferometers
• Change tools following defined processes
• Data entry, work tracking, and effective communication
