Job summary

Coldspring is seeking a Saw Operator 1 to set up and run saws for stone products in a full-time role on second shift. The position includes a $2 shift differential and access to a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities include crane-assisted loading, interpreting production tickets, precise cutting, layout planning, and recording work in the JDE system. Forklift certification is provided if needed.

Qualifications

• Must obtain forklift certification or training provided by the employer.

• Mechanically inclined with basic math skills.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload saws with an overhead crane.
• Review production tickets to determine necessary cuts for the stone.
• Ensure work meets production ticket specs before and after cutting.
• Level and square stone on the saw bed.
• Index the saw blade to the correct size based on stone.
• Brace and wedge stone to prevent movement during cutting.
• Apply patterns and layout stone to minimize waste.
• Load pre-programmed profiles and input manual cuts as needed.
• Operate saw for straight and angle cuts according to specs.
• Reattach slab labels and log work in the JDE system.

Hours: Monday - Wednesday: 3:15pm - 3:45am & Thursday: 3:15pm - 7:45pm; overtime as needed

JOB SUMMARY

The Saw Operator 1 is responsible for the set up and operation of the saws.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

• Load and unload saws with an overhead crane.
• Review production tickets to determine cuts that are necessary for the stone.
• Review work to ensure it meets production ticket specifications before and after cutting.
• Level and square stone on saw bed.
• Index the saw blade to the correct size and dimension based upon the stone being cut.
• Brace and wedge stone to prevent it from moving while it is being cut.
• Apply patterns and layout stone to best utilize raw stone material.
• Load pre-programmed profiles from the network and input manual cuts as needed.
• Operate saw according to layout and order specifications for both straight and angle cuts.
• Reattach slab labels or label each slab after cuts have been completed.
• Scan bar code on production tickets to record work performed in JDE system.

Requirements

• Must obtain forklift certification (training and certification provided by Coldspring for all employees who may be required to operate a forklift).
• General computer skills.
• Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another, to avoid interruptions in production.
• Ability to work independently, with little or no supervision.
• Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills, with an emphasis in time management, improving efficiencies and exercising independent judgment to determine work priority and urgency.
• Mechanically inclined.
• General math skills.
• Must be able to read work orders or production tickets, which may include dimensional drawings.
• Ability to read a tape measure, imperial and metric.
• Work as a self-motivated team member who adheres to all safety protocols and is willing to cross-train as needed.
