Job summary

Rochester Regional Health's Unity Hospital in Rochester, NY, is seeking a Dialysis Tech to support patient-centered dialysis care and operate dialysis equipment in a fast-paced environment.

You will set up and deliver dialysis treatment, cannulate fistula or graft as directed, monitor patients' status, and document observations in the EMR under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. A High School diploma and national certification are required or pursued within 18 months.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or an equivalent combination of education and healthcare related work experience.
  • Dialysis Technician National Certification required within 18 months of hire.

SUMMARY

As a Dialysis Tech, your attention to detail and kind, patient focused attitude while administering dialysis is crucial to sustaining the lives of our patients.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Patient Care - Set up and deliver dialysis treatment; cannulate fistula or graft; obtain blood samples and culture specimens; calculate fluid removal based on nursing assessment; respond to treatment complications and inspect and evaluate dialysis access site, under direction of the Registered Nurse.
  • Reporting - Monitor patient’s vital signs during treatment and record observations and interventions in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system; report patient status changes to RN when appropriate; retrieve lab results when necessary.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School diploma or an equivalent combination of education and healthcare related work experience.
  • Dialysis Technician National Certification required within 18 months of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 1 year of experience in patient care or as an EMT preferred.
  • Strong customer service, computer, and communication skills preferred.

BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA), RN - Registered Nurse - NYS Office of Professions

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Moderate - Clinical - Moderate clinical roles are patient facing roles that require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20–50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning. Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision‑making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation. TB testing, mask‑fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements. For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements. Any physical requirements reported by a prospective employee and/or employee’s physician or delegate will be considered for accommodations.

PAY RANGE

$18.50 - $22.00 CITY: Rochester POSTAL CODE: 14626 The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
