Job summary

UTMB Correctional Managed Care seeks a Dialysis Patient Care Tech at Estelle to provide direct care in a dialysis setting and support licensed staff within the correctional system.

Located in a prison environment, the role requires CCHT certification or progression toward it, completion of on-the-job training, CPR, and the ability to monitor patients and operate dialysis equipment with safety and precision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• CCHT certification or equivalent, or must attain within 18 months of employment.
• Completion of CMC Dialysis Patient Care Technician on-the-job training.
• CPR credentials maintained.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the medical evaluation of the patient pre-dialysis, including recording vital signs and weight.
• Sets up and operates dialysis equipment and reports issues to supervising staff.
• Performs preventive maintenance and quality control.
• Documents and troubleshoots on the EMR.
• Monitors patients during hemodialysis and communicates potential problems to licensed staff.
• Responds quickly to emergencies.
• Cleans machines, chairs and rooms after each patient and cleans dialysis jugs.
• Assists in obtaining lab work and prepares lag tubes for patients.
• Educates patients as needed.
