Job summary

Baptist Health in Kentucky seeks a Registered Nurse for the Dialysis unit. The role focuses on patient-centered nursing care for inpatients requiring hemodialysis, plasmapheresis, or related therapies, with 24/7 coverage as needed.

The RN will conduct rounds, assessments, and treatments, coordinate admissions and discharges, and provide patient and family education while adhering to policies, procedures, and evidence-based practice.

Qualifications

  • Current RN licensure in Kentucky.
  • Bachelor's or an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university.
  • Basic life support (BLS) required; ACLS/PALS/NRP as department requires.
  • If holding an associate degree with <10 years’ experience, must enroll in BSN within 12 months and complete within 5 years.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care with nursing rounds, assessments, and treatments.
  • Coordinate admission, transfer, and discharge activities on the unit.
  • Deliver patient and family-centered education and care planning.
  • Ensure nursing practice aligns with policies, procedures, regulatory standards, and evidence-based guidelines.

Dialysis unit services all inpatients that require hemodialysis, therapeutic plasma exchange, or plasmapheresis during their hospital admission; either within the department and/or critical care areas. Dialysis services are available as needed 24/7.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse implements professional nursing practice centered on the patient as a whole person and the creation of a caring environment focused on healing and wellness.

As a clinical nurse, this individual spends majority of his/her time (> 50%) coordinating, ensuring, and providing direct patient care activities on the unit through: provision of nursing rounds, assessments, and treatments; facilitating admission, transfer, and discharge activities; provision of patient and family-centered education; care coordination and individualized treatment planning as applicable, etc.

Minimum Education, Experience, Training and Licensures Required
  • Current RN licensure or work permit in Kentucky.
  • Bachelor's or an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university.
  • Basic life support [must be obtained within 30 days of hire.]
  • ACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department of Assignment.
  • Those with an associate degree in nursing and less than 10 years of experience must enroll within 12 months of hire in a bachelor's degree program and must have achieved the degree within 5 years.
