Job description

How you will change lives
As a Patient Care Technician (PCT) at US Renal Care, you will be an integral part of a cross-functional team providing care and delegated activities of treatment to patients. The PCT will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Charge Nurse (CN) for patients with renal failure.

What you'll be doing

1. Patient care: You will work directly with patients to provide safe, comfortable, and high-quality dialysis treatment. Responsibilities include gathering patient stats before and after treatment, initiating treatment, monitoring patients during treatment, terminating treatment, and collecting patient blood samples per physician orders.
2. Technician Duties: You will ensure quality by preparing machines for hemodialysis treatments, cleaning and disinfecting machines after treatment, and conducting machine safety checks and logging results for quality control, following all protocols and regulations.
3. Safety and Quality: You will use appropriate safety measures, including personal protective equipment, and adhere to all company policies, procedures, and state/federal laws. Participation in staff meetings and continuing education is required.

State Specific Board of Nursing Requirements

California

• Must possess current Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT) certificate from California Department of Public Health (CDPH) at hire OR
• Hired at an approved California dialysis technician training program location and obtain California state certification (CHT) within six weeks of training completion.

Maryland

• Must possess current CNA-DT certificate from Maryland Board of Nursing OR
• Hired at an approved Maryland dialysis technician training program location and obtain Maryland CNA-DT certificate within three months of hire OR
• Out-of-state applicants must have active BONENT certification and proof of initial CNA-DT application.

New Mexico

• Must have New Mexico dialysis technician certificate at hire OR
• Hired at an approved New Mexico dialysis technician training program location and obtain New Mexico certification within six months of training completion OR
• Out-of-state applicants with active state or national certification must obtain New Mexico certification before working as a Hemodialysis Technician. Starting January 1, 2024, all initial applications require a national certification. Applicants must submit proof of a valid national hemodialysis technician certificate.

Ohio

• Must have Ohio dialysis technician intern certificate at hire OR
• Hired at an approved Ohio training program and apply for Ohio intern certificate within four weeks of training completion. Must obtain Ohio Board of Nursing Certificate (OCDT) within 12-18 months of enrollment.

Oregon

• Must possess current Oregon CHDT certificate at hire OR
• Obtain Oregon provisional certificate within three weeks of training completion and the full CHDT certificate within 18 months. The provisional is valid for six months, renewable once.
