Job summary

Fresenius Medical Care seeks a dialysis support technician to assist in providing safe, effective dialysis in the inpatient setting. You will work under the direct supervision of the Hemodialysis RN and support the care team in delivering treatments, reporting observations, and maintaining a clean, safe environment.

Expect to set up machines, document treatments, and monitor patient responses while maintaining compliance with FMC policies and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Effective communication skills – both verbal and written.
• CMS/state certification requirements within the state or CMS timeline.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care under the direct supervision of Hemodialysis RN.
• Reports and documents new incidents, information, complaints, or problems to the RN.
• Maintains a safe and clean work environment and supports quality improvement activities.
• Sets up and primes equipment as directed for renal replacement therapies.
• Ensures dialysis machine is set up, tested, and safe for treatment per policy.
• Coordinates with patients, reports patient well-being to the RN.
• Obtains pre/post-treatment vital signs and weights; reports unusual findings.
• Documents patient treatment in EMS/ACES and machine programming as prescribed.
• Responds to cannulation difficulties per state requirements and notifies RN.
• Performs termination procedures with proper hemostasis and dressings.
• Travels between facilities as needed; participates in addendum location functions.
• Follows Code of Business Conduct and company policies.
