Job summary

Fresenius Medical Care Lamar, CO is seeking a dialysis patient care technician to support the dialysis team. You will assist with setup and operation of hemodialysis machines, monitor patients during treatment, and document vital signs and treatment data under supervision of a licensed nurse.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Must meet CMS/state requirements for licensure and training.
• All appropriate state licensure, education, and training required.
• Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or related facility preferred.
• Continued employment is dependent on CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Welcome assigned patients and inquire about wellbeing since last treatment.
• Evaluate vascular access for patency and cannulation; administer heparin as delegated.
• Obtain pre and post treatment vital signs and weight; evaluate pre-treatment vascular access.
• Initiate dialysis per orders (QB and QD).
• Monitor response to dialysis and document vital signs and treatment parameters.
• Document and report significant patient information to RN or supervisor.
• Perform infection control tasks and maintain environment according to policy.
• Assist in training direct care staff under supervision of a nurse.
• Prepare charts, collect lab specimens, and ensure proper labeling and storage.
