Job summary

Fresenius Medical Care in Villas, NJ seeks a patient care technician to join the dialysis team. Under RN supervision, you will set up and operate hemodialysis machines, monitor patients, record vitals and treatment data, and support safe, efficient care according to policies and CQI goals.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or G.E.D. required.
• CMS-approved state or national certification requirements within CMS timeline.
• All appropriate state licensure, education, and training required.
• Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in setup and operation of hemodialysis machines and maintain a safe, clean work environment.
• Evaluate vascular access, cannulation, and administer heparin as delegated or allowed by state law.
• Obtain pre- and post-treatment vital signs and weight; evaluate vascular access pre-treatment.
• Initiate dialysis according to orders including QB and QD flows; monitor response to therapy.
• Document treatment data accurately on Hemodialysis Treatment Sheet and report changes to RN or supervisor.
• Observe patient status and perform machine safety checks; participate in CQI and infection control activities.
