Job summary

Fresenius Medical Care seeks a dedicated dialysis technician to join our team, delivering safe, effective dialysis therapy to patients under supervision of licensed nurses. You will help set up and operate hemodialysis machines and maintain a clean, safe environment.

You will educate patients on adequacy measures, monitor treatment, document findings, and assist with pretreatment testing and safety checks. The role emphasizes CQI, infection control, and teamwork within the dialysis unit.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• CMS-approved state and/or national certification within the required state or CMS timeline.
• All appropriate state licensure, education, and training required.
• Previous patient care experience in hospital or related facility preferred.
• Dialysis training program completion and CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the setup and operation of hemodialysis machines.
• Assist in maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
• Educate patients on adequacy measures such as OLC, AMP, UKM.
• Evaluate vascular access patency and cannulation; administer heparin as delegated.
• Obtain pre- and post-treatment vital signs and weight; document accordingly.
• Initiate dialysis per orders and monitor patient response to therapy.
• Document treatment data and report any changes to the RN or supervisor.
• Perform infection control practices and ensure safety of equipment and area.
