Job summary

Fresenius Medical Care is seeking a dedicated dialysis team member in Florida to assist with the setup and operation of hemodialysis machines under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse. The role emphasizes patient safety, accurate documentation, and contributing to a safe, clean unit.

You will educate patients on adequacy measures, monitor treatment and vital signs, manage vascular access, and collaborate with RNs and other team members to ensure quality patient care and CQI activities

Responsibilities

• Welcome assigned patients and inquire about their wellbeing since their last treatment.
• Evaluate vascular access for patency and perform cannulation; administer heparin as delegated.
• Obtain pre- and post-treatment vital signs and weight; evaluate access pre-treatment.
• Initiate dialysis treatment per orders, including blood flow (QB) and dialysate flow (QD).
• Monitor patient response and address intradialytic problems as prescribed.
• Record vital signs, treatment parameters, and document on the Hemodialysis Treatment Sheet.
• Discontinue dialysis per procedures and assess patient before venous access termination.
• Obtain hemostasis and apply dressings.
• Record and report significant information to RN or supervisor.
• Perform safety checks on machines and alarms; ensure NVL 160 is enabled.
• Collect laboratory specimens and prepare for testing.
• Maintain supplies and keep the area clean and organized.
• Assist in training direct patient care staff under RN supervision.
• Follow organization policies; keep areas safe and clean; disinfect equipment and surroundings between treatments.
• Prepare for dialysis and perform pretreatment alarm testing including PHT.
