Dialysis Biomedical Technician (Finance)

The Biomedical Technician is responsible for overseeing the overall operational condition, maintenance, and repair of all water treatment equipment, medical equipment, and mechanical/electrical systems to ensure patient safety and staff safety in their assigned clinic(s).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Demonstrate effective use of supplies and staff labor hours.
- Assist with purchasing: place orders and perform weekly and monthly inventory counts.
- Familiar with inventory control procedures (FIFO) and assist in documenting and controlling excess inventory.
- Perform duties to meet patient care or operational needs of the clinic.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment as recommended by the manufacturer.
- Repair, calibrate, test, clean, and disinfect dialysis machines, water distribution loop, and RO units according to protocol.
- Perform water quality checks, including testing for free chlorine, total chlorine, and water hardness.
- Conduct safety checks on pretreatment water equipment such as carbon tanks, water softeners, RO units, UV lamps, and ultrafilters.
- Collect samples of RO water and dialysate for microbiology testing as per protocol.
- Collect water samples for AAMI analysis testing.
- Disinfect central bicarbonate system and mixing tank per protocol.
- Disinfect RO, distribution system, and hemodialysis machines according to protocol.
- Operate within limitations established by company policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
- Perform electrical safety tests on dialysis machines and related equipment.
- Review instruction manuals and operate equipment according to manufacturer's recommendations.
- Maintain preventative maintenance programs and support documentation.
- Keep accurate maintenance records for all equipment.
- Understand the function and safe operation of water treatment and related systems.
- Address physical environment issues impacting safety.
- Mix bicarbonate and acid concentrate solutions according to protocol.
- Assist with receiving, storing, and stocking supplies.
- Be familiar with all emergency equipment and procedures.
- Use safety measures including PPE as necessary.
- Follow OSHA regulations and update MSDS as required.
- Be aware of contracts and contacts for emergency repairs.
- Obtain quotes from approved contractors for repairs.
- Present technical summaries in QAPI meetings.
- Collaborate with the Administrator to meet clinic needs.
- Promote GUEST customer service standards and develop organizational relationships.
- Respond to inquiries or concerns effectively.
- Participate in staff meetings, in-service, and continuing education.
- Complete technical training for clinical staff as required.
- Instruct staff on equipment use and care.
- Participate in team efforts and promote teamwork.
