Job summary

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program or equivalent ultrasound training and clinical experience required.
• Licensure: ARDMS certification required or must be obtained within policy timeframe; CPR/BLS required.
• Experience: 1 year ultrasound in acute care hospital preferred; diverse exam types desired.
• Other: Strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, teamwork and patient service.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations following orders and department protocols.
• Review patient history and prior imaging to confirm appropriateness and accuracy.
• Prepare patients, explain exams, ensure privacy and safety.
• Operate, adjust, and troubleshoot ultrasound equipment for quality images.
• Perform general, vascular, obstetric, gynecologic, abdominal, small parts, and other exams per competency.
• Communicate critical findings promptly to radiologist or ordering provider.
• Assist with ultrasound-guided procedures and maintain sterile technique as needed.
• Document exam information and image data in EMR and RIS accurately.
• Maintain exam rooms and equipment per infection control and safety standards.
• Support Imaging Services quality assurance and continuous improvement efforts.
• Assist with workflow, training, and weekend/holiday on-call coverage as required.
