Job summary

Lehigh Valley Health Network is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to provide diagnostic imaging under physician direction while upholding radiation safety standards.

You will deliver high-quality patient care, coordinate exam timing with the team, and ensure images are PACS-ready. Evening shift with onsite work at Health Center Pennsburg. Requires PA RT license and ARRT radiography credential, plus BLS.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Radiography program or equivalent.
• Completion of Radiologic program within <1 year.
• Ability to handle medical information ethically and confidentially.
• Knowledge of how to use radiation producing equipment safely.

Responsibilities

• Produce diagnostic-quality images and prepare them for radiologist interpretation.
• Maintain radiation safety and proper exposure factors with documentation.
• Ensure correct exam is ordered and attached to patient file.
• Monitor supplies and equipment to meet patient care needs.
• Document LMP, fluoroscopy time, radiologist, image count, and history.

Summary

Provides diagnostic quality radiologic imaging under the direction of a Physician while maintaining proper radiation protection standards . Follows the guidelines for radiation safety while imaging gently. Delivers a high level of patient care and customer service to promote patient satisfaction.

Job Duties

• Produces images of diagnostic quality, processes, and prepares images for interpretation by the radiologist.
• Provides radiation protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards. Uses appropriate exposure factors, collimation, and proper distance with documentation. Assumes responsibility and accountability for his/her own safety and the safety of others.
• Ensures appropriate exam is ordered for number of images provided and attached to the correct patient folder.
• Confirms levels of supplies and equipment to meet requirements for patient care and/or specific departments.
• Documents LMP, fluoro time, radiologist, number of images, appropriate history and all other required documentation.
• Ensures coordination of daily work duties within the team and coordinates timing of exams.
• Ensures images have crossed into PACS before study is complete.
• Confirms physician orders are complete and includes signature, ordered study, reason for test (diagnosis/CPT codes) and obtains missing information prior to treatment.
• Reports equipment malfunction and the need for adjustment and/or repairs.
• Assists in the education and training of new employees, students, and other ancillary personnel.
• Assumes responsibility for cleanliness and sanitation of the immediate work area and maintains orderliness.

Minimum Qualifications

• Technical School Diploma Graduate of accredited Radiography program or equivalent
• Less than 1 year Completion of Radiologic program
• Ability to deal effectively and ethically with medical and confidential information relating to patients, family, and physicians.
• Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
• Understanding of how to effectively and safely use radiation producing equipment.
• Knowledge of medical technology and terminology.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania
• RT - Registered Technologist Radiology - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree Graduate of Health Science Program

Physical Demands

Lift over 50 lbs. Push/pull up to 140 lbs. Carry 80 lbs. short distances. Frequent standing/walking, squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing and reaching overhead.
