Job summary

Lehigh Valley Health Network in Dickson City, PA, seeks a Radiologic Technologist to provide diagnostic-quality imaging under physician direction while upholding radiation safety and patient care.

Responsibilities include producing images, ensuring proper exposure, coordinating with the radiology team, maintaining equipment, and documenting studies. Must complete a Radiography program and be PA-licensed RT; BLS on hire. Onsite day shift, no weekends.

Qualifications

• Requires completion of an accredited Radiography program and a Technical School Diploma.

• Ability to recognize and solve problems related to radiologic procedures.

Responsibilities

• Produce diagnostic-quality images and prepare studies for radiologist interpretation.
• Provide radiation protection per safety standards.
• Select appropriate exposure factors and document properly.
• Ensure accuracy of patient information and attach images to correct patient file.
• Coordinate daily duties within the imaging team and schedule exams.
• Verify PACS transfer of images and completed orders with diagnoses/CPT codes.

Summary

Provides diagnostic quality radiologic imaging under the direction of a Physician while maintaining proper radiation protection standards . Follows the guidelines for radiation safety while imaging gently. Delivers a high level of patient care and customer service to promote patient satisfaction.

Job Duties

• Produces images of diagnostic quality, processes, and prepares images for interpretation by the radiologist.
• Provides radiation protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
• Uses appropriate exposure factors, collimation, and proper distance with documentation.
• Assumes responsibility and accountability for his/her own safety and the safety of others.
• Ensures appropriate exam is ordered for number of images provided and attached to the correct patient folder.
• Confirms levels of supplies and equipment to meet requirements for patient care and/or specific departments.
• Documents LMP, fluoro time, radiologist, number of images, appropriate history and all other required documentation.
• Ensures coordination of daily work duties within the team and coordinates timing of exams.
• Ensures images have crossed into PACS before study is complete.
• Confirms physician orders are complete and includes signature, ordered study, reason for test (diagnosis/CPT codes) and obtains missing information prior to treatment.
• Reports equipment malfunction and the need for adjustment and/or repairs.
• Assists in the education and training of new employees, students, and other ancillary personnel.
• Assumes responsibility for cleanliness and sanitation of the immediate work area and maintains orderliness.

Minimum Qualifications

• Technical School Diploma
• Graduate of accredited Radiography program or equivalent
• Less than 1 year
• Completion of Radiologic program
• Ability to deal effectively and ethically with medical and confidential information relating to patients, family, and physicians.
• Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
• Understanding of how to effectively and safely use radiation producing equipment.
• Knowledge of medical technology and terminology.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania
• RT - Registered Technologist Radiology - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree Graduate of Health Science Program

Physical Demands

• Lift over 50 lbs.
• Push/pull up to 140 lbs.
• Carry 80 lbs. short distances.
• Frequent standing/walking, squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing and reaching overhead.
