Job summary

PACCAR is seeking a Diagnostic Software Developer to design and implement diagnostic algorithms and tools for heavy‑duty vehicle electronics. This role collaborates with engineering, manufacturing, service, validation, IT, and suppliers to deliver reliable diagnostic software and guided procedures.

The successful candidate will have 5+ years in automotive electronics, hands-on diagnostics, and experience with CAN/J1939/LIN networks, and must be comfortable traveling up to 5%.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience with automotive electronic systems, including hands-on diagnostics.
  • Experience with automotive networks (CAN, SAE J1939, LIN) preferred.
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced, results-oriented team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience creating technical documentation for production and service.
  • Willingness to grow personally and professionally.
  • Travel domestically or internationally up to 5%.

Responsibilities

  • Design, document, and implement diagnostic algorithms, software, interfaces, and toolset solutions.
  • Develop guided diagnostic procedures using a visual logic development environment and Agile methods.
  • Own and evolve diagnostic toolset requirements, standards, and implementation approaches with global stakeholders.
  • Support manufacturing launch activities and cross-functional rollout efforts.
  • Create and review architecture definitions, and technical documentation.
  • Work with global teams to address worldwide requirements and local content needs.
  • Collaborate with Toolset EU, Diagnostics NA, and Vehicle Software Delivery ITD NA to deliver solutions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design, document, and implement diagnostic algorithms, software, interfaces, and toolset solutions.
  • Develop guided diagnostic procedures using a visual logic development environment and Agile methods.
  • Own and evolve diagnostic toolset requirements, standards, and implementation approaches in collaboration with global stakeholders.
  • Support manufacturing launch activities and cross-functional rollout efforts.
  • Create and review architecture definitions, and technical documentation.
  • Work with global teams to address worldwide requirements and local content needs.
  • Collaborate closely with globally distributed teams, including Toolset EU, the Diagnostics team NA, and Vehicle Software Delivery ITD NA, to ensure alignment, effective coordination, and successful delivery of diagnostic solutions.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience with automotive electronic systems, including substantial hands-on work with on- and off-board diagnostics.
  • Experience in automotive electronic systems, preferably including extensive on- and off-board diagnostics development.
  • Experience with automotive or commercial vehicle networks, such as CAN, SAE J1939 and LIN preferred.
  • Candidates must be able to perform in a fast-paced, results-oriented team environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Experience in creating technical documentation, including preparing simplified drawings and diagrams for production and service is highly valued.
  • Willingness to grow personally and professionally.
  • Ability to travel domestically or internationally up to 5%
