Job summary

Indiana University Health System is seeking a PRN Radiologic Technologist to operate imaging equipment for surgical procedures. Prepare patients, explain exams, and position correctly while collaborating with radiologists to ensure precise imaging.

The role requires BLS, 0–3 years of experience, and active ARRT RT(R) certification or board eligibility with credential within 6 months. An ISDH license or Radiology Student Permit is also required.

Qualifications

  • 0–3 years relevant radiology experience.
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association is required.
  • Ability to maneuver equipment and improvise positions when patient condition limits routine positioning.
  • ARRT RT(R) certification or board eligibility; must obtain Radiography credential within 6 months if board eligible.
  • Current ISDH license as Radiologic Technologist or ISDH Radiology Student Permit required.

Responsibilities

  • Operates imaging equipment (x-ray, fluoro, portable x-ray, fluoroscopy) used in surgery.
  • Explains exam to patient and positions them correctly.
  • Collaborates with radiologists and referring physicians to ensure accurate imaging.
  • Follows radiation safety protocols.
  • Documents detailed patient history and EMR information.
  • Monitors patient during exam for safety and patient well-being.
  • Assists with minimally invasive procedures as needed.
  • Stays current with continuing education.

Job description

This is a PRN position requiring 1 shift per month and 1 holiday per year.

Operates imaging equipment such as x-ray, fluoro, portable x-ray, and fluoroscopy equipment used in surgery. Prepares patients by explaining exam and positioning them correctly. Collaborates with radiologists and referring physicians to ensure accurate imaging. Follows radiation safety protocols. Documents detailed patient history. Stays current with continuing education. Monitors patients during exam for safety. Documents necessary information in EMR. Assists with minimally invasive procedures as needed.

  • Requires 0-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
  • Requires ability to maneuver equipment and improvise positions when the condition of the patient does not permit routine positioning.
  • Requires active status as a Registered Technologist - Radiography, RT(R), through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or a recent graduate of an approved training program in Radiologic Technology (board eligible). If board eligible, must obtain credential in Radiography within 6 months of hire.
  • Requires current Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) license as Radiologic Technologist or a current ISDH Radiology Student Permit.
