Summary of Job Duties: The Radiology Technician is responsible for maintaining and using equipment and supplies that image portions of the human body on x-ray film or fluoroscopic screens. This position is governed by state and federal law and agency policy.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Licenses, certificates, or registration:
  • Associates - Graduate of an approved Radiology program
  • Registered or eligible the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist and Licensed by the State of Arkansas in Radiology Technology required.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Positions and sets up imaging machines (e.g. x-ray, fluoroscopy) to acquire diagnostic-quality images according to exam specifications and safety protocols.
  • Escorts patients to imaging rooms, explain procedures clearly, assist with positioning, and ensure patient comfort, safety, and cooperation during imaging.
  • Ensures correct radiographic exams are performed, repeat only when necessary, and maintain high image quality for accurate medical interpretation.
  • Performs portable X‑rays, mobile units, fluoroscopy, surgical settings, emergency department imaging, and other modalities depending on staffing needs.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, family members, referring physicians, clinical staff, and clerical staff, and answer inbound calls or coordinate with hospital floors when required.
  • Monitors equipment performance, report malfunctions or safety concerns, and help coordinate regular maintenance to ensure daily operability.
  • Reviews patient records, import external images into the PACS system, alert appropriate clinical staff, and ensure digital archiving is accurate.
  • Assists in controlling patient flow, triaging when needed, provide backup coverage for colleagues, help move equipment like C‑ARMs/O‑ARMs, and complete additional duties assigned by supervisors.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
