Overview

Military & Health Research Foundation (MHRF) is seeking a highly qualified and compassionate Diagnostic Radiology Physician to deliver exceptional patient care services at Mike O’Callahan Military Medical Center in Nellis Air Force Base. This role is essential to supporting the military healthcare mission by providing timely, high-quality, and patient-focused radiological care in a dynamic clinical environment.

The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical expertise, sound medical judgment, and the ability to effectively manage emergent and complex cases. Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills are also critical to success in this position. This is NOT a remote position.

Minimum Requirements
  • Degree: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.).
  • Education: Graduation from a medical school in the United States, Canada, or approved by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education of the American Medical Association (AMA), graduation from a college of osteopathy approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or graduation from a medical school with evidence of Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certification.
  • Certification: The DoD only recognizes certifications issued by boards that are members of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or the AOA Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists.
  • Internship/Residency/Fellowship: Completion of an accredited residency approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
  • Experience: As required to meet clinical competency requirements specified in the credentialing instructions.
  • Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine.
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Perform a full range of physician services in accordance with privileges granted by the MTF.
  • Clinically guide, perform, or assist in the instruction of other health care professionals within the scope of the clinical privileges or responsibilities.
  • Examine, diagnose, treat or prescribe courses of treatment within the scope of training, experience, and privileges.
  • Provide preventive and health maintenance care, including annual physicals, positive health behaviors, and self-care skills through education and counseling.
  • Order diagnostic tests as applicable as well as request consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated.
  • Technically proficient in clinically directing and teaching other medical staff, providing educational lectures and participating in the provision of in‑service training to clinic staff members. Such clinical direction and interaction will adhere to Government and professional clinical standards and accepted clinical protocols.
Professional Certifications
  • Certifications (in addition to Basic Life Support): The contract personnel shall hold and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) is required. Certifications must be through American Heart Association or American Red Cross guidelines. Member must present proof of current certification(s) through American Health Association or American Red Cross. Computer‑based training does not constitute fulfilling the training requirements. Must maintain currency at NO cost to the government.
  • Board Certification: Board certified by the American Board of Radiology. NOT board eligible. Mammography Quality and Standards Act (MQSA) Certified.
  • Licensure: For positions involving patient care, candidates must have a permanent, full, and unrestricted Medical License to practice medicine in the state of Nevada.
Years of Professional Experience

In addition to above certifications the candidate must meet the following conditions:

  • At least 10 years or greater as a diagnostic radiologist.
  • Actively practicing for 2 out of the last 3 years with interpretations performed under the following modalities:
  • MRI
  • Mammo
  • CT
  • X‑ray
  • US
  • Fluoro
  • Nuclear Medicine
  • DEXA
Formal Education

Degree/Education: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.). Graduate from an accredited medical school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) at the time the degree was obtained.

A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed pre‑medical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.
