Job description

Summary

The Fargo VA Health Care System is recruiting for 1 full-time Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist for the Diagnostic Imaging Service Line.

Qualifications

Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.

Basic Requirements:

  1. United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  2. Certification: All applicants must be certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology - Radiography (ARRT) (R).
  3. Advanced ARRT certification is required for assignments that include computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), or Mammography (M) duties performed independently.
  4. Exception for Non-Certified - Entry Level Candidates: Non-certified DRTs who meet ARRT (R) eligibility may be given a temporary appointment as a graduate DRT under 38 U.S.C. § 7405(c)(2)(B). The appointing official may waive certification requirements for up to two years for DRTs providing care under supervision at the GS-5 entry level. For higher grades, certification is required.
  5. Education: Completion of a 24-month full-time training course or equivalent in a JRCERT-accredited post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, evidenced by a certificate or associate degree.
  6. English Language Proficiency: Must be proficient in spoken and written English.
  7. Creditable Experience: Knowledge of current radiologic technology practice, demonstrated by at least one year of active practice as a DRT, paid or unpaid.
  8. Quality of Experience: Experience must have been earned after basic certification requirements were met. Graduate DRT experience is creditable if the candidate functioned as a DRT and passed the certification exam.
  9. Part-Time Experience: Creditable proportionally based on relationship to full-time workweek.

Grade Determinations: Various levels from GS-5 to GS-8 with specific experience, education, and KSAs required for each grade. Preferred experience includes CT certification and BLS certification.
