Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (MRI)

Join to apply for the Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (MRI) role at VA Detroit.

Summary: The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is recruiting for a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (MRI). The MRI technologist will work in Imaging Service, performing a variety of MRI procedures.

Responsibilities
  1. Schedule exams efficiently, prioritizing emergencies and optimizing MRI equipment capabilities.
  2. Determine optimal scanning parameters in coordination with Radiologists and Physicists.
  3. Position patients, monitor during exams, and remove patients upon completion.
  4. Administer MRI contrast and start IVs as certified.
  5. Work with anesthesia staff for sedated patients, ensuring safety and quality.
  6. Coordinate sedation or anesthesia for claustrophobic patients.
  7. Monitor and analyze MRI data to ensure diagnostic quality.
  8. Use PACS for image transmission and maintain accurate records in RIS.
  9. Screen patients for contraindications and explain procedures.
  10. Stay updated with MRI advancements to improve quality.
  11. Assist in research protocols and train new staff.
  12. Maintain equipment and perform safety checks.
  13. Participate in safety and manual development activities.
Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm, with rotating on-call duties.

Qualifications

Must be certified in radiologic technology by ARRT, with additional certification for MRI. Completion of an accredited 24-month radiologic technology program or equivalent. Proficiency in English required. Relevant experience and specialized skills in MRI preferred.
