Summary
This Advanced Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (ADRT) - Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) - is assigned to the Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center (RMRVAMC) - Imaging Service; MRI Section within the VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System (ECHCS) in Aurora, Colorado. RMRVAMC is a complex level 1A1 Medical Center providing a full range of state-of-the-art patient care services, including a 182-bed hospital with a 30-bed spinal cord injury and disorders service.

Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be considered tentatively but cannot be hired until all requirements are met.
Basic Requirements:
- United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens are unavailable, in accordance with VA Policy.
- English Language Proficiency: Must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d).
- Certification: Must be certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - Radiography (ARRT R).
- Advanced ARRT Certification: Required for assignments involving CT, MRI, or Mammography duties performed independently.
- Education: Completion of a full-time, 24-month (or equivalent) post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, evidenced by a certificate or associate degree, accredited by JRCERT or recognized agencies.
- Grade Determinations: GS-09 level requires at least one year of relevant experience demonstrating clinical competencies, capable of performing tasks independently, including complex procedures and clinical instruction.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must demonstrate technical KSAs such as patient care, assessment, safety, and procedural knowledge, with potential to acquire additional assignment-specific KSAs.
- Preferred Experience: General MRI experience in a medical center.
- Physical Requirements: Heavy lifting, prolonged standing, bending, visual and auditory acuity, and ability to wear protective gear for extended periods.
Duties
- Operate MRI equipment to obtain high-quality examinations while managing SAR levels.
- Perform MRI scans of various body regions and vessels, including MR angiography.
- Administer contrast media via venipuncture, adhering to safety protocols.
- Process and archive images using PACS and other software, maintain records, and ensure proper documentation.
- Prepare contrast materials, respond to adverse patient reactions, and follow safety guidelines.
- Assist with scheduling, review orders for accuracy, and coordinate exams to maximize efficiency.
- Perform sterile procedures for MR-guided biopsies, manage supplies, and ensure equipment safety.
- Adjust technical parameters for optimal imaging, consult with radiologists, and ensure correct patient identification.
- Participate in after-hours call rotation and follow all policies and procedures.
