Job summary

Moncrief Army Health Clinic at Fort Jackson in Columbia, SC is seeking an MRI Radiologic Technologist for the US Army Medicine Civilian Corps. You will perform routine, emergent, and specialized MRI exams, including heart MRI for adults and children, and establish imaging parameters.

You will review physician requests and train GME residents and others in MRI techniques. Qualifications include US citizenship, radiology certification under 42 CFR Part 75, and at least one year of specialized MRI

Moncrief Army Health Clinic is a Defense Health Agency military medical treatment facility located at Fort Jackson in Columbia, South Carolina. Responsibilities

• Works independently performing routine, emergent, and specialized procedures with responsibility for protocols, patient care, and magnet safety.
• Receives and reviews requests from physicians and other health care providers for magnetic resonance imaging examinations of patients.
• Performs adult and pediatric magnetic resonance imaging of the heart to identify cardiac pathology.
• Independently establishes various parameters.
• Trains Graduate Medical Education (GME) radiology residents, non-radiologist physicians, 68Pstudents and other personnel in MRI principles, procedures, capabilities, techniques, and equipment.

Additional information about transcripts isin this document.Radiology Certification:Public Law 97-35 requires that persons who administer radiologic procedures meet the credentialing standards in 42 CFR Part 75. Essentially, they must (1) have successfully completed an educational program that meets or exceeds the standards described in that regulation, and is accredited by an organization recognized by the Department of Education, and (2) be certified as radiographers in their field. The following meet these requirements: (1) Persons employed by the Federal Government as radiologic personnel prior to the effective date of the regulation (January 13, 1986) who show evidence of current or fully satisfactory performance or certification of such from a licensed practitioner such as a doctor of medicine, osteopathy, dentistry, podiatry, or chiropractic who prescribes radiologic procedures to others. (2) Persons first employed by the Federal Government as radiologic personnel after the effective date of the regulation who (a) received training from institutions in a State or foreign jurisdiction that did not accredit training in that particular field at the time of graduation, or (b) practiced in a State or foreign jurisdiction that did not license that particular field or did not allow special eligibility to take a licensure examination for those who did not graduate from an accredited educational program, provided that such persons show evidence of training, experience, and competence as determined by OPM or the employing agency.To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.Specialized experience:One year of specialized experience which includes performing magnetic resonance imaging diagnostic equipment or performing quality control procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).OREducation:Successful completion of a Master's or equivalent graduate degree, or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Diagnostic Radiology/Radiography.ORCombination of Experience:A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
