Job description

Summary

This position is located in the Diagnostics & Therapeutics (D&T) Service Line at the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany, New York. It functions as a diagnostic radiologic technologist for the Radiology Department, qualified to provide diagnostic radiologic services including x-ray radiology and computed tomography (CT).

Qualifications Basic Requirements:
  • Citizenship: Be a citizen of the United States.
  • Certification: All applicants must be certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology - Radiography (ARRT) (R). Advanced certification in Computed Tomography is REQUIRED.
  • Education: Completion of a 24-month full-time training course in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, evidenced by a certificate or associate degree, accredited by JRCERT or equivalent.
  • Computed Tomography (CT): Requires specific knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, spiral and multi-slice CT, 3-D reconstruction, drainages, biopsies, and vascular examinations. Must interpret examination requests accurately and understand organ functions.
  • Credentialing Standards: Must meet standards in 42 CFR Part 75, including successful completion of accredited educational programs and certification as radiographers.
  • Grade Determinations: At least one year of related experience demonstrating clinical competencies. The full performance level is GS-8, with the actual grade for selection being GS-9.
Assignments:

Perform procedures, examinations, and administer contrast media and medications. Knowledge of digital radiography and PACS is required. Conduct bedside and intraoperative radiography, interpret requests, and perform interventional CT biopsies using sterile techniques. Ensure safety, maintain equipment, and participate in quality assurance activities. Maintain accurate records and adhere to radiation safety guidelines.

Work Schedule:
