Job summary

Great Plains Tribal Health is seeking an experienced Radiologic Technologist to perform diagnostic imaging and related procedures. You will support physicians by preparing and positioning patients, operating equipment, and ensuring high-quality images for radiologists’ review.

The role requires ARRT and BLS certifications, 1 year of related experience, and strict adherence to safety, QA/QC, and HIPAA regulations.

Qualifications

  • ARRT certification is required to practice as a radiologic technologist.
  • Current BLS certification for healthcare providers is required.
  • Criminal and background checks, plus a pre-employment drug screen, are required.
  • Preferred experience on multiple diagnostic imaging modalities.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

This position is responsible for performing radiologic and other diagnostic imaging procedures to assist physicians and other licensed medical providers in diagnosing the disease and injuries of Oyate Health Center(OHC) patients.

Essential Functions
  • Explains procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
  • Prepares and positions patients for diagnostic imaging procedures.
  • Adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of the specified area of the body requested by the physician.
  • Moves imaging equipment into specified positions, and determines exposure factors based on height, weight, the portion of the body involved, and the degree of penetration required.
  • Adjust equipment controls to set exposure factors and produce images of proper detail, density, and accuracy.
  • Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patients and staff.
  • Performs specialized and routine diagnostic radiology procedures.
  • Processes images and reviews for proper identification and quality control.
  • Prepares images for reading by radiologists or requesting physicians.
  • Performs routine maintenance, diagnoses malfunctions, makes minor repairs on radiologic equipment, and arranges for repairs as needed.
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining the Quality Assurance/Quality Control programs required by the American College of Radiology.
  • Schedules appointment for patient examinations.
  • Completes forms and maintains records, logs, and reports of work performed.
  • Responsible for ordering and maintaining supplies for the Imaging Department.
  • Maintain effective, collaborative interdepartmental and external relations.
  • Must comply with federal laws and regulations as required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Performs imaging related duties.
  • Performs the core responsibilities of the position accurately, timely, and in accordance with established standards.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance consistent with the position’s schedule and operational needs.
  • Communicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders as required by the role.
  • Adheres to all applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Utilizes required systems, tools, and technology necessary to perform the job.
Physical Requirements

This position requires frequent standing and walking throughout the workday, with limited periods of sitting. The employee must be able to assist with lifting, transferring, and positioning patients, including those with limited mobility. The role requires frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and use of proper body mechanics. Manual dexterity is necessary to operate imaging equipment and position patients accurately. Visual acuity is required for reviewing diagnostic images and monitoring patient positioning. The employee must be able to communicate effectively, including speaking clearly and hearing and understanding patients and healthcare team members. Work is performed in a clinical environment with exposure to infectious materials and ionizing radiation, requiring adherence to safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment.

Required Qualifications
  • Graduate of an Accredited Program of Radiologic Technology and one (1) year of experience as a radiologic technologist.
  • Must have certification from the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT).
  • Current BLS certification for health care providers.
  • Must successfully pass a criminal and background check and a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Preferred experience on multiple modalities of diagnostic imaging.
