This Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (DRT) position is assigned to the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Radiology Service within the Cincinnati VA Medical Center. The Cincinnati VA Medical Center is a 1B facility. The DRT is responsible for performing a wide variety of routine to moderately complex diagnostic radiology examinations independently and without supervision.

Key Duties include:

• Receiving patients, explaining procedures, positioning patients, and making exposures as requested.
• Conducting standard examinations independently and consulting with Radiologists for nonstandard procedures.
• Operating Diagnostic Imaging equipment, developing new techniques, and adjusting protocols to visualize pathology.
• Performing complex radiologic examinations to aid in diagnosis, including positioning patients and selecting technical factors.
• Following HIPAA guidelines, properly registering and managing examination data, and ensuring images are transferred to PACS promptly.
• Maintaining examination rooms, supplies, and infection control standards.
• Participating in physiologic monitoring and assisting with fluoroscopic and specialized procedures.
• Understanding basic physics related to x-ray operation and other related duties as assigned.

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 2nd shift, including On-Call and weekends.

• Not available for telework or virtual work.
• Position is in the Excepted Service; no competitive status.

Requirements include:

• U.S. Citizen, proficient in English, and background/security checks.
• Certification in radiologic technology by ARRT (R).
• Completion of a 24-month post-high school radiologic technology program or equivalent.

Qualifications:

Experience and education requirements vary by grade level from GS-5 to GS-8, with specific KSAs outlined for each level.

Physical Demands:

Heavy lifting, prolonged standing, and other physical requirements are necessary.

Education:

Degrees from accredited institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education are required. Foreign education must be accompanied by a foreign credential evaluation.
