Job summary

The Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg, WV seeks a Physician (Anatomic and Clinical Pathology) to lead and support the Laboratory Services.

The incumbent will perform anatomical and clinical pathology duties, supervise residents, maintain JC/CAP accreditation, and ensure timely reporting of surgical and cytology specimens. Responsibilities include intraoperative consultations, autopsies as needed, 24-hour call coverage, and participation in hospital committees.

Qualifications

• MD degree from an approved school and successful completion of residency in a core specialty
• Current full and unrestricted medical license in a US state or territory
• Residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology or equivalent and board certification/eligibility
• Physician must meet VA basic requirements and English language proficiency

Responsibilities

• Provide pathological services and supervise residents as applicable
• Perform gross description, tissue sampling and microscopic examination
• Conduct intraoperative consultations and cytology examinations
• Ensure JC and CAP accreditation standards are met
• Maintain timely reporting of surgical, autonomous, and biopsy specimens
• Participate in 24-hour call coverage and department committees
