Pima Medical Institute is seeking a dedicated Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) Multi‑Specialty Instructor for a part‑time role at our Phoenix campus. We offer two 20‑hour shifts (morning or afternoon) with on‑site instruction and flexible scheduling to accommodate clinical work or personal life.

The ideal candidate will hold RDMS and at least two of the AB, RVT/VS, OB/GYN registries, plus an Associate’s degree and three years of occupational ultrasound experience.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate’s degree from an agency-recognized institution.
• Clinical Experience: 3+ years as Diagnostic Medical Sonographer/Ultrasound Technologist.
• Credentials & Multi-Registry: Active RDMS with at least two of AB, RVT/VS, OB/GYN.
• Licensure: Current license/credential as required.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and computer applications.
• Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Instructional Delivery & Curriculum Management:

• Lectures & Demonstrations: Prepare and deliver engaging lectures and practical hands‑on demonstrations for classroom and lab instruction.

• Lesson Planning: Implement daily lesson plans, scheduled activities, and instructional materials aligned with program objectives.

• Community Engagement: Arrange guest speakers, community field trips, and educational visits to local imaging centers and medical clinics.

Laboratory & Practical Instruction:

• Hands‑On Mentorship: Demonstrate proper lab procedures, positioning, and scanning techniques; supervise and mentor students during scanning labs.

• Safety Protocols: Enforce strict laboratory safety, ergonomics, sanitation, and infection control standards.

• Externships: May assist with coordinating and supervising student clinical externship placements.

Student Success & Academic Support:

• Retention & Success: Monitor student success rates, meet with at‑risk students, and implement interventions to maintain an 80%+ student success rate.

• Attendance & Progress Tracking: Monitor daily attendance, prepare weekly reports, and collaborate with Student Services if a student's course grade average falls below 77% or if absences occur.

• Academic Evaluation: Grade assignments and exams, maintain student records, and prepare final grades at the end of each sequence.

• Advising: Maintain office hours during your shift block to advise, tutor, and guide students.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Associate’s degree from an academic institution accredited by an agency recognized by the USDE or CHEA.

• Clinical Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of occupational (practical) experience as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer / Ultrasound Technologist.

• Credentials & Multi‑Registry Requirement: Active Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration from ARDMS. Must hold at least two (2) of the following active registries:

  • Abdomen (AB)

  • Vascular Technology (RVT / VS)

  • Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB/GYN)

• Licensure: Current license or credential as required by local, state, or federal regulations.

• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and computer applications.

• Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
