Job description

Position Summary

We are seeking a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to independently perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations and operate sonographic equipment. The Sonographer will obtain high-quality diagnostic images, evaluate findings, communicate relevant information to physicians, and support daily ultrasound laboratory operations while maintaining patient safety and comfort.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic sonography examinations and clinical assessments.
  • Operate and maintain sonographic equipment effectively.
  • Adapt examination procedures based on anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic information.
  • Use independent judgment to differentiate normal and abnormal findings.
  • Evaluate and synthesize sonographic information, patient history, medical records, and related diagnostic information.
  • Communicate relevant diagnostic findings to the appropriate physician and healthcare team.
  • Ensure patient safety, comfort, privacy, and dignity throughout examinations.
  • Coordinate schedules to support appropriate workload coverage.
  • Maintain accurate patient logs and complete exam documentation and billing forms.
  • Maintain ultrasound equipment, work areas, and adequate supplies.
  • Participate in quality assurance and laboratory accreditation activities.
  • Establish and maintain professional working relationships with patients, physicians, healthcare professionals, and referral organizations.
  • Follow established departmental procedures, safety standards, and applicable healthcare regulations.
  • Stay current with advances in sonography, diagnostic procedures, and related medical knowledge.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 0–1 year of experience or clinical experience with diagnostic sonography.
  • Ability to effectively operate sonographic equipment.
  • Ability to obtain and evaluate diagnostic-quality sonographic images.
  • Ability to integrate imaging findings with patient history and medical information.
  • Strong independent judgment and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
  • Ability to establish positive working relationships with patients and healthcare teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography preferred.
  • Experience with multiple ultrasound examination types.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and laboratory accreditation standards.
  • Strong understanding of anatomy, pathology, and diagnostic imaging principles.
  • Patient-centered approach and strong clinical judgment.
