Job summary

AA OBGYN PLLC is seeking a Sonographer to operate ultrasound equipment independently and perform diagnostic examinations. You will prepare preliminary reports and communicate findings to physicians, ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout the procedure.

Requirements include an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program or an AS degree with ARDMS obstetrics and gynecology certification, CME compliance, and preferably 2 years OB/GYN experience.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree of Applied Science (Radiology or Nursing) or Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, Radiology or Sonography.
  • Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.
  • Active certification by ARDMS in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
  • Current compliance with Continuing Medical Education requirements.
  • Prefer two years Obstetrics and Gynecology experience.
  • Excellent communications skills (written and verbal) as well as listening skills.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations.
  • Performs all requested sonographic examinations as ordered by the attending physician.
  • Prepares preliminary reports.
  • Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.
  • Analyzes sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information and medical history, and communicates findings to the appropriate physician.
  • Assumes responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in the sonographers care.
  • Ensures all required documentation, requisitions, forms, charges, and patient’s medical record are completed.
  • Completes all written and computer documentation in a timely manner.
  • Maintains ultrasound equipment and work area, and supplies.
  • Promote quality patient care and customer satisfaction.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Description

Position: Sonographer

Report To: Lead Sonographer

Purpose: Responsible for the independent operation of sonography equipment, and for performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations using sonography. Meet and exceed patient expectations and adhere to established practices while assuring the best possible care for patients.

Requirements

Skills, Education, & Experience:

  • Associates Degree of Applied Science (Radiology or Nursing) or Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, Radiology or Sonography

AND/OR

  • Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.
  • Active certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
  • Current compliance with Continuing Medical Education (ME) requirements.
  • Prefer two years Obstetrics and Gynecology experience.
  • Excellent communications skills (written and verbal) as well as listening skills.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills and decisive judgment,
  • Physical/Mental Abilities:
  • Ability to effectively operate sonographic equipment.
  • Ability to evaluate sonograms in order to acquire appropriate diagnostic information.
  • Ability to integrate diagnostic sonograms, laboratory results, patient history and medical records, and adapt sonographic examinations as necessary.
  • Ability to use independent judgment to acquire the optimum diagnostic sonographic information in each examination performed.Ability to evaluate, synthesize, and communicate diagnostic information to the attending physician.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the patient and the health care team, recognizing the special nature of the sonographic examinations and patient’s needs.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and health care team.
  • Ability to follow established departmental procedures.
  • Must be able to handle difficult situations in a professional manor and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently to perform job with minimal supervision
  • Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 lbs.
