Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Functions in the specialty role of Diabetes Educator by providing direct patient care in the acute care and ambulatory settings based on consultative requests from the medical staff.
• Works closely with the medical and nursing staff to prepare patients for discharge in a safe, efficient manner.
• Provides tools and skills for homecare to patients and families.
• Makes recommendations to hospital staff for changes in diabetes management.
• Serves as an educational and informational resource to hospital staff and the community.

Qualifications:

Education

• Graduate from a nursing program Required or
• Bachelor's Degree in applicable field Required

Work Experience

• 2 years of experience in a clinical setting Preferred
• Experience in Diabetes Education Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• RN - Registered Nurse - Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate Licensure Required or
• REG DIET - Dietitian - Registered Required or
• CDE - Certified Diabetes Educator Certification Required or
• Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) Required
