Position: Certified Diabetes Educator

Schedule: Full Time / First Shift

Location: New Albany, Indiana

Sign-On Bonus: $10,000

Position Overview:

Under general supervision, the Certified Diabetes Educator supports the Joslin Diabetes Center by providing nutritional assessment, education, and management to patients with chronic conditions at risk for disease progression, complications, cognitive, and functional decline. Collaborating with physicians and the interdisciplinary team, the educator develops and implements individualized care plans to promote understanding and management of conditions, optimize quality of life, and improve clinical outcomes. The role also involves developing various nutritional programs (focused on both adults and pediatrics) for the Joslin Diabetes Center. Services are provided in the Endocrinology office and remotely, as appropriate based on schedule and staffing needs.

Minimum Education, Training, and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree with coursework approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).
• Certified Diabetes Educator Certification.
• Passed a national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
• Current, unrestricted certification with the Commission on Dietetics Registration (CDR).
• Current, unrestricted dietitian licensure in Kentucky and Indiana.
• Knowledge of nutrition guidelines in chronic disease management.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of HEDIS or NCQA quality measures.
• Valid, unrestricted driver's license and ability to travel to multiple locations.

Preferred qualifications include RD, CDE, RN with CDE, APRN, PA, Registered Dietitian, or Diabetes Educator credentials. Certifications such as AADE, C.D.E are also desirable.
