Qualifications

  • Valid state certification to teach Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) students.
  • Experience working with children or adolescents who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Strong skills in sign language (ASL or Signed English) and other communication modalities.
  • Understanding of educational modifications and assistive technology for hearing-impaired students.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with general education staff and related service providers.
  • Compassion, patience, and an enthusiasm for making learning accessible.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in partnership with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Adapt curriculum, provide classroom accommodations, and monitor student progress.

  • Act as a liaison between students, teachers, parents, and support staff to enhance student success.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
