Job summary

The role supports a hybrid work arrangement and requires expertise in 3D CFD tools, heat transfer, and propulsion system knowledge.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience with propulsion-related simulation, design, testing, or release.
  • Hands-on with 3D CFD software packages (STAR-CCM+, Simerics-MP+, Fluent).
  • Strong understanding of heat transfer and fluid mechanics applied to engineering systems.
  • Familiarity with vehicle propulsion system design, operation, or testing.
  • BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering is required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform DFMEA-aligned 3D CFD analysis focusing on high-voltage battery systems and power electronics.
  • Simulate battery Thermal Runaway Propagation, venting dynamics, and safety physics under abuse scenarios.
  • Lead thermal risk assessments during architecture definition and rapid CFD trades.
  • Correlate virtual predictions with physical test data to ensure fidelity.
  • Communicate analysis plans and results to stakeholders via presentations and reviews.
  • Meet timing, quality, and cost targets within product development processes.
  • Participate in benchmarking and advanced methods to improve GM's CFD capabilities.
