Job description

Make a difference for national security by joining a team of dedicated professionals supporting the Space Development Agency (SDA).

This role involves developing and deploying the Battle Management Command, Control, and Communications (BMC3) software environment for the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA). These systems enable rapid and secure mission application deployment in support of Joint All Domain Command and Control (JADC2) objectives.

SAIC is seeking a BMC3 DevSecOps Engineer to train, troubleshoot, and educate strategic partners on IL-5 Software development for Space Operations related to PWSA. The position primarily involves working with Impact Level 5 (IL5) information, with potential travel to Redstone Arsenal, Grand Forks, ND, or other IL5 access locations. The role is primarily remote.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Code, test, debug, document, and deploy custom applications.
  • Understand compiled software build processes.
  • Assist application development teams with App Development on the BMC3 platform, utilizing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) or Configuration as Code (CaC).
  • Program script logic from customer specifications to build code in the SW Factory.
  • Follow BMC3 policies and understand business, technical, and program requirements to educate vendors on modern software development practices.
  • Apply analytical, automation, and coding skills throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Prepare Lean and SAFe Scrum methodology documentation.
  • Build, debug, and use CI/CD pipelines to support third-party application developers.
  • Utilize cloud-based tools (e.g., VSCode, Gitlab, Docker, K8’s, Jenkins, Terraform, AWS services, and others) for development.
  • Educate teams on best practices for architecture, deployment, maintenance, and security of tools and systems.
  • Design, test, and implement secure operating systems, networks, and security monitoring systems.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree with 9+ years of experience or Master’s degree with 4+ years of experience.
  • Security+ or higher certification (DoD 8570 IAT Level II).
  • Knowledge of DoD policies (DoD 8500.01 and 8510.01).
  • Proficiency in Linux, cloud architecture, virtualization, and orchestration.
  • Subject Matter Expert in programming applications and microservices for space and ground systems.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab, and deployment platforms.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and VMs.
  • Knowledge of web services (REST APIs, JSON).
  • Proficiency with SW IDEs.
Security Clearance:
  • U.S. Citizen with Secret Clearance.

Salary Range: $120,001 - $160,000, based on experience and other factors.
