OMW Consulting seeks a Senior DevOps/SRE engineer to own the US production environment and build an AI-agent platform for cross-border collaboration with a China-based R&D team.
You will manage data storage, key management, and encryption services while enabling tool-calling interfaces, log lookups, and monitoring through conversational interfaces. This role requires handling US data-compliance and working with legal counsel across time zones.
Compensation: $180,000 - $220,000 + 0.05% - 0.2% equity
Employment Type: Full-Time
Key Requirement: DevOps/SRE background + hands-on experience building AI-agent systems (LLM tool-calling, MCP)
Our client is a well-funded, stealth-stage AI hardware startup (~$20M raised) building an integrated hardware, software, and cloud system that acts as a "living memory" for its users - capturing conversations, meetings, and everyday signals so people can move from intention to action without typing or navigating a UI. Core surfaces include Apple Watch, iPhone, and a Mac desktop app, underpinned by an agent and ASR (speech-to-text) pipeline. The founding team previously scaled a well-known AI note-taking hardware company from roughly $1M to $100M ARR in two years, and has now taken a high-agency swing at building the next generation of the category, growing out its US core team in San Francisco.
This role sits at the intersection of DevOps/SRE, security and compliance, and applied AI-agent engineering. You will own the company's US-China data-compliance boundary end to end: running day-to-day operations of the US production environment (data storage, key management, decryption services) while designing and building an AI-agent platform that allows the China-based R&D team to perform operational tasks - deployments, log lookups, monitoring queries - through conversational and tool-calling interfaces instead of direct system access. You will work closely with legal counsel to implement US data-compliance requirements on the technical side, and coordinate constantly with a China-based team across time zones and languages.
