Job summary

Hypertherm's Software Engineers are hands-on and focused on continuous improvement. The Software/AI Engineering Internship or Co-op for Summer/Fall 2027 offers mentorship, exposure to AI-enabled engineering, DevSecOps, automation, and quality initiatives across our engineering teams in Hanover and Lebanon, NH.

You will work with experienced engineers to prototype tools, scripts, and integrations, gain experience with .NET and C++, and contribute to secure development and faster software delivery

Qualifications

• Experience with scripting for automation, tooling, or workflow improvement.
• Familiarity with .NET development and C++ development.
• Interest in DevSecOps, secure software development, CI/CD, and software quality practices.

Responsibilities

• Support DevSecOps improvement initiatives, including secure coding practices, CI/CD enhancements, automation, and development workflow improvements.
• Research, prototype, and evaluate modern AI tools and practices to improve productivity, code quality, testing, and knowledge sharing.
• Assist with quality improvement efforts such as automated testing, static analysis, code review support, defect prevention, and metrics.
• Develop scripts, utilities, and integrations to automate repetitive engineering tasks and improve team efficiency.
• Contribute to software development activities using scripting languages, .NET, and C++.
• Collaborate with software, quality, security, and operations stakeholders to understand team needs and deliver practical improvements.
• Document findings, recommendations, prototypes, and implementation guidance so teams can adopt new practices effectively.
