Job description

Location: Dearborn, MI (Advanced Engineering Center)
Duration: 12 month
Employment Type: Contract
Role Overview:

This person owns the build, test, and release tooling that gets software from code commit to production. Day to day, that means setting up and tuning CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins and GitHub Actions), finding root causes when builds or deployments break, and automating manual steps. The goal is faster, safer releases with less risk of failed or recalled software. The ask is deep Linux, Windows, and GitHub/Jenkins experience (7+ years each) plus solid GCP and Python (hard to find as a full combination at these year counts). The requisition says the customer wants fresh profiles for this repeat round, so expect a deeper search than a standard DevOps req.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines in Jenkins and GitHub Actions
  • Deploy updates and fixes to keep continuous integration running smoothly
  • Support code releases and deployments across production, testing, and sandbox environments
  • Perform root cause analysis on build and pipeline failures in development and production
  • Build integrations with internal back-end systems as needed
  • Develop automation to improve existing processes and spot new automation opportunities across the software lifecycle
  • Write new procedures for system troubleshooting and maintenance
  • Assess current systems and processes, then implement improvements that speed releases without adding security risk
Required Qualifications:
Experience:
  • 5+ years in a relevant field (the requisition also describes this as 5+ years as a DevOps engineer or similar software engineering role)
  • Ability to work independently and proactively find and solve problems
  • High attention to detail
  • Active security check clearance (type not specified)
Technical Skills:
  • Microsoft Windows
  • GitHub
  • Jenkins
  • Cloud infrastructure
  • Python
  • GCP|
5. Preferred Qualifications:
  • Azure, 3+ years
  • Embedded systems build and development process experience
  • Team leadership experience (listed as highly preferred)
  • Additional scripting: Bash, PowerShell
  • Other version control: GitLab
  • Other CI/CD tools: GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, CircleCI
  • Log management: Elastic Stack, Grafana Loki, FluentD
  • Configuration management: Ansible, Chef, Puppet
  • AWS experience (alternate cloud platform)
  • Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code (adjacent)
  • Cloud DevOps certifications such as Google Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer or Azure DevOps Engineer Expert (adjacent)
