Job summary

jobboard is hiring a Software Reliability Engineer in a hybrid NYC area setup. The role emphasizes practical DevOps and SRE work, with roughly 70 percent coding and configuration to enable safe, rapid releases.

Candidates should have TDD experience, JVM languages and TypeScript proficiency, and strong security and observability knowledge. Expect collaboration across engineering teams on infrastructure, tooling, and deployment automation.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience with Test Driven Development (TDD) across multiple test frameworks.
• Strong ability to select automation testing approaches and leverage AI assistance.
• Proficiency in JVM languages and TypeScript.
• Solid coding skills and secure coding practices.
• Experience with Docker, OpenShift, and build tools (Gradle, Maven, npm).
• Familiar with Linux (Red Hat) environments.

Responsibilities

• Conduct targeted engagements with development teams to improve release cadence and vulnerability resolution.
• Wrap applications with a suite of tests, including local smoke tests as part of deployments.
• Integrate test data and implement data masking in non-prod environments.
• Upgrade runtimes and libraries to latest major versions and maintain current dependencies.
• Implement continuous library updates using Renovate and improve source control and code reviews.
• Ensure secure coding practices and authentication/authorization patterns.
• Automate deployment processes, including database changes with Liquibase and software with Ansible.
• Establish standard observability patterns and improve logging and error handling.
